Biofoam company Cruz Foam announced this week it received $1.2 million in a recent funding round, readying its product for release into the commercial market.
Cruz Foam builds biodegradable and eco-friendly foam alternatives to expanded polystyrene foam, white foam plastic material commonly known as Styrofoam. Cruz Foam’s patent-pending technology is made from chitin, a polymer derived from all-natural shrimp shell waste. The company’s targeted product markets are making packaging for consumer goods, consumer electronics, commercial shipping and automotive industries, with the ultimate goal of reducing plastic pollution.
